Programme Overview
The Master of Architecture is a professional architecture training programme conducted with Full Accreditation (Part II) by Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia . This programme a continuation of Part I B.Sc. (Hons) Architecture prepares graduates for a professional career in Architecture after some year of industry experience and sitting for their final LAM Part III exam.
Programme Objectives     
Programme focuses on architecture design, technology integration, sustainable building design, urban planning, research, professional practice and environology. Students are expected to demonstrate the knowledge learnt in the supporting subjects in their Final Design Thesis. Architecture firms and professional architects are involved closely in the preparation of curriculum, training and teaching if the courses. It is a programme fully integrated with theory and practice.

Mentor Program

Mentor Programme is a supportive programme unique for UTAR's Master of Architecture. The programme invites Architectural Consultancy Companies or Practicing Architects to be appointed as “Mentors” that act as an additional intellectual and educative support to students in their design projects. Mentors and Students will meet on regular basis and further explore the design and technical issues in relation to their design projects.

Entry Requirement 

Academic Requirement

(1) a Bachelor's Degree with Honours and CGPA of 2.75 and above or a Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA of 2.75 and above in a related field from UTAR; or

(2) a Bachelor's Degree with Honours and CGPA of 2.00 and above but less than 2.75 or a Bachelor's Degree with CGPA of 2.00 and above but less than 2.75 in the relevant field of study from UTAR and subjected to rigorous assessment; or

(3) any other qualifications equivalent to (i) and (ii) as recognized by the Senate and Board of Architects Malaysia; 

and at least six months of post degree Practical Experience in a registered architect's office evidenced in a log book;

and a portfolio (Working & Study portfolio) for submission and assessment


1.Application form should attached with the evidenced in a log book (A4 size report) on the post degree Practical Experience in a registered architect’s office  (Example log book format); and a Working & Study portfolio (Min A3 size, hardcopy in colour)

2. For International students, the minimum entry requirements (MER) is equivalent to iteam (i) & (ii) as listed above, which is recognized by the Senate and meets the requirement of LAM Part 1.

Academic Requirement

- IELTS Academic : 5.0  (CEFR  Level B1)   

-  TOEFL : 410-413/ TOEFL iBT Score 42 - 45  

- Pearson Test of English (PTE) : 47 - 50  

- Cambridge English Qualification and Tests : 154 - 159 (High B1 level in CEFR)

 - MUET Band 3
