Entry Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Technology (by Coursework)

(a) A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with CGPA of 2.50 and above or equivalent as approved by the Senate; or
(b) Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with CGPA of 2.00 and above but less than CGPA of 2.50, and show evidence of at least five (5) years of relevant working experience can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
(c) Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree in the related fields or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTAR and meet the minimum CGPA set out in (1) to (2).

Postgraduate Diploma in Data Management and Analytics (by Coursework)  (a) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
(b) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous internal assessment; or
(c) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their working experience in computing or related fields; or
(d) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to appropriate prerequisite courses; or
(e) Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields recognized by the Government of Malaysia must fulfill the requirement on item (a) or (b)
Master Computing Programmes
(by Coursework) 
 
(a) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
(b) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous internal assessment; or
(c) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to a thorough rigorous assessment to identify the appropriate prerequisite courses that equivalent to their working experience in computing or related fields; or
(d) A Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in non-Computing field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 can be accepted subject to appropriate prerequisite courses; or
(e) Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields recognized by the Government of Malaysia must fulfill the requirement on item (a) or (b). 
All Master Programme Except Computing
(by Coursework)  
  
(a) A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with CGPA of 2.75 and above or equivalent as approved by the Senate; or
(b) A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with CGPA of 2.00 and above but less than CGPA of 2.75, or equivalent as approved by the Senate subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
(c) Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree in the related fields or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTAR and meet the minimum CGPA set out in (a) & (b).   
Master in Industrial Organisational Psychology (by Coursework)
Applied Psychology (non-practitioner):
(a) A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
(b) A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment.* or
(c) Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (non-psychology, Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 with a minimum 45 credits of prerequisites modules in Psychology or a graduate diploma in Psychology or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate or
(d) Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (non-psychology, Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 and a Master’s degree in Psychology with a minimum 45 credits of prerequisites modules in Psychology or a graduate diploma in Psychology or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate or
(e) Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by Malaysian government as equivalent to the above requirements.

Applied Psychology (practitioner):
(a) A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate; or
(b) A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment.* or
(c) Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (non-psychology, Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 with a minimum 45 credits of prerequisites modules in Psychology or a graduate diploma in Psychology or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate or
(d) Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree (non-psychology, Level 6, MQF) with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 and a Master’s degree in Psychology with a minimum 45 credits of prerequisites modules in Psychology or a graduate diploma in Psychology or its equivalent as accepted by the HEP Senate or
(e) Other relevant equivalent qualifications recognised by Malaysian government as equivalent to the above Requirements.

* Rigorous internal assessment may include independent panel interview, GRE psychology examination, and relevant extensive experience.
All Master Programmes (by Research and by Mixed Mode) Except Computing

(a) A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields with CGPA of 2.75 and above or equivalent as approved by the Senate; or

(b) A Bachelor’s Degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with CGPA of 2.50 and above but less than CGPA of 2.75, subject to rigorous internal assessment; or

(c) A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields or equivalent with minimum CGPA of 2.00 but less than CGPA of 2.50, and show evidence of at least five (5) years of relevant working or research experience* can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; or

(d) Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree in the related fields or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTAR and meet the minimum CGPA set out in (a) to (c).

* five (5) years working or research experience means any working or research experience after obtaining the qualification which period shall also include practical training and any industrial attachment

Master of Architecture (by Coursework)
(a) A Bachelor’s Degree with Honours and CGPA of 2.75 and above or a Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA of 2.75 and above in a related field from UTAR; or
(b) A Bachelor's Degree with Honours and CGPA of 2.00 and above but less than 2.75 or a Bachelor’s Degree with CGPA of 2.00 and above but less than 2.75 in the relevant field of study from UTAR and subjected to rigorous assessment; or
(c) Any other qualifications equivalent to (i) and (ii) as recognized by the Senate and Board of Architects Malaysia; and 
(d) At least six months of post degree Practical Experience in a registered architect’s office evidenced in a log book; and
(e) A portfolio for submission and assessment
Master of Science (Computer Science)
(by Research)
(a) A Bachelor's Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 or equivalent, as accepted by the Senate; or
(b) A Bachelor's Degree (Level 6, MQF) in Computing or related fields or equivalent, with a minimum CGPA of 2.75, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment; or
(c) A Bachelor's Degree (Level 6, MQF) in of Computing or related fields or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a minimum of FIVE (5) years of working experience in the related field and rigorous internal assessment; or
(d) Candidates without a qualification in the related fields or relevant working experience must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses as determined by the Senate and meet a minimum CGPA of 2.50 with a minimum of FIVE (5) years of working experience in the related fields and rigorous internal assessment; or
(e) Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in the field of Computing or related fields recognised by the Government of Malaysia must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses as determined by the Senate.
    
All PhD programmes (by Research/ by Published Work/ Industrial PhD) 
(a) A Master’s degree in the field or related fields from UTAR; or
(b) A Master's Degree in the field or related fields of another university or equivalent qualification from an institution as approved by Senate; or
(c) Candidates without a related Master’s degree in the field or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTAR; or
(d) A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields from UTAR with First Class Honours or with a minimum CGPA of 3.67 and show evidence of related research aptitude to the satisfaction of the Senate; or
(e) A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields of another university or equivalent qualification from an institution with First Class Honours or with a minimum CGPA of 3.67 as approved by the Senate and shows evidence of related research aptitude to the satisfaction of the Senate; or (f) Any other qualifications equivalent to (a), (b), (d) or (e) as approved by the Senate.
Doctoral Degree by Retrospective or Prior Publication
(a) A Master’s degree in the field or related fields from UTAR; or 

(b) A Master's Degree  in the field or related fields of another  university or equivalent qualification from an institution as approved by Senate; or

(c) Candidates without a related Master’s degree in the field or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by UTAR; or

(d) A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields from UTAR with First Class Honours or with a minimum CGPA of 3.67 and show evidence of related research aptitude to the satisfaction of the Senate; or

(e) A Bachelor’s degree in the field or related fields of another university or equivalent qualification from an institution with First Class Honours or with a minimum CGPA of 3.67 as approved by the Senate and shows evidence of related research aptitude to the satisfaction of the Senate; or

(f) Any other qualifications equivalent to (a), (b), (d) or (e) as approved by the Senate.


Application should include the following additional supporting documents:-

(i) minimum of five (5) articles published in renowned journals in which the candidate shall be the main and/or corresponding author. The articles shall not previously been used for the award of any degree obtained by the candidate;

(ii) an executive summary of approximately 3,000 words on the above publications to show coherence between the five (5) articles and demonstrate his contribution to knowledge in the specialised field

(iii) a list of other scholarly published works.
